SSD Listings

One way to qualify for Social Security Disability benefits, is to show that you have a severe impairment that meets or equals a listed impairment. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has laid out specific types and severities of impairments that qualify as disabilities.

If your severe impairment meets or equals a listed impairment, you will likely qualify for Social Security Disability (SSD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. Even if your particular disorder is not listed, if it is substantially similar to disorders in the listings, you can prove your impairment is a disability that qualifies you for SSD benefits.

The most important factor considered by the SSA is your medical records. The types of evidence needed to prove your claim depend on your impairment. At Reitan Law Office, PLLC, our lawyers know the types of medical evidence given weight by the SSA and build strong claims to increase our clients’ chances of getting approved for SSD.

Psychological and emotional disabilities can be more difficult to prove. Make sure you clearly demonstrate your need for disability benefits on your initial application.
