DOG BITE CLAIMS
In Minnesota, there is “Strict Liability” if you are attacked by another person’s dog. In other words,
if you are lawfully on the property of another and a dog, without provocation, attacks you, you are
entitled to recover for the damages you suffer. These damages can include your medical bills, pain and suffering, wage loss,
and payment for any permanent scarring or injuries received in the attack. Many people believe that an owner of a dog is
not liable if this is the first time the dog has bitten someone. This is not true in Minnesota. Even if the dog has
never been aggressive before and then bites someone legally on the property and without provocation, the owner is
liable for the damages caused.
If you have been attacked and injured by another’s dog, the attorneys at Reitan Law Office would
be happy to meet with you, at no cost or obligation, to discuss your claim.
